迈向去殖民化的当代菲律宾戏剧:《罗莎·塔巴逆袭记》中的神话创作与文化记忆

主讲人简介:

塞·安瑞尔·皮内达·蒂亚塔克教授是菲律宾大学迪里曼分校戏剧艺术与语言传播系教授。他在新加坡国立大学获得博士学位,是英国曼彻斯特大学世界文化研究所访问学者。蒂亚塔克教授是《人文迪里曼》的副主编,《国际戏剧研究》特约编辑,《当代戏剧评论》的编辑之一。他在2021年被菲律宾科学技术部国家研究委员会授予人文学科成就奖。他的代表著作有《纠缠:马尼拉都市当代戏剧》(彼得·朗出版社,2017年)、《天主教义:菲律宾的信仰与戏剧》(菲律宾大学出版社,2016;获2017年度菲律宾国家艺术表演类图书奖)、《世界主义、戏剧和菲律宾:在一个陌生的世界中表演社群》(菲律宾大学出版社,2018;获2018年度菲律宾国家图书奖)。

Prof. Sir Anril Pineda TIATCO earnedhis PhD in Theatre Studies from the National University of Singapore. He was a visiting scholar at the Research Institute for Cosmopolitan Cultures, the University of Manchester. He is the author ofBuhol-Buhol/Entanglement: Contemporary Theatre in Metropolitan Manila(Peter Lang, 2017), the National Book Award 2017 Finalist for Best Book on Art PerformingCatholicism: Faith and Theatre in a Philippine Province(also from the University of the Philippines Press, 2016), and the National Book Award 2019 Winner (Best Book on Art)Cosmopolitanism, Theatre, and the Philippines: Performing Community in a World of Strangers(University of the Philippines Press, 2018). He is an associate editor of Humanities Diliman, a contributing editor of Theatre Research International, and one of the editors of Contemporary Theatre Review. He was recognized by the Department of Science and Technology - National Research Council of the Philippines as its 2021 Achievement Awardee in the Humanities. Tiatco is professor of theatre and performance studies at the University of the Philippines Diliman Department of Speech Communication and Theatre Arts.

讲座概要

2023年的菲律宾“女性月”,导演何塞·艾斯特雷亚,伊萨·洛佩兹和马克·达拉卡特与剧作家罗多尔夫·维拉、梅纳德·玛南萨拉共同合作,把菲律宾儿童故事《胖罗莎逆袭记》改编成音乐剧《罗莎·塔巴逆袭记》并搬上了舞台。在剧中,观众被邀请见证发生在两个世界的故事:当下的故事发生在“罗莎妈妈”餐厅,该餐厅以其会唱歌的厨师和服务员而闻名;而过去的故事,被会唱歌的厨师和服务员通过一场音乐盛宴所唤起。这场盛宴讲述了罗莎——一个菲律宾女孩,在西班牙殖民总督的豪宅里当女仆的故事。而罗莎的父母,一对菲律宾老夫妇,则总是会跟她讲起神圣的拉坎比尼神(纯洁之神)如何保护菲律宾的土地及其人民的故事。

这出戏探究了戏剧、神话创作以及文化记忆之间的关系。通常人们认为在历史编撰中加入神话叙述是不恰当的,因为神话叙事夸张,而且扭曲了事实。但演讲者认为,仅就这部作品而言,神话叙事的加入是必要的。《罗莎·塔巴逆袭记》神话叙事的狂想性质其实是一种去殖民化的叙事策略。这种去殖民化的叙事策略经由以下几点得以实现:对那些被边缘化的族群进行本质性的呈现,伸张他们的本质化的身份,并且促使他们为了政治的原因而团结起来。《罗萨·塔巴逆袭记》成为对过去历史的寓言化表征,它影响着现在并投射向未来:一种对于更美好的社群的渴望,人民基于共同的祖先和历史而团结在一起,这样的观念/想象把社群牢牢地维系在一起。

Staged on the occasion of the women’s month in the Philippines, directors José Estrella, Issa Lopez and Mark Dalacat collaborated with playwrights Rodolfo Vera and Maynard Manansala to bring the children’s story How Rosang Taba (Fat Rose) won the Race to a theatrical public viaKung Paano Nanalo ng Karera si Rosang Taba(Rosang Taba) at the Main Stage of the University Theater. In the play, the audience are invited to witness two worlds: the present, set in a restaurant ‘Mama Rosa,’ popular for its singing cooks and waiters; and the past, that is recalled by the singing cooks and servers everyday through a musical extravaganza. The extravaganza follows Rosa, a Katao (Filipino), a criada (housemaid) in a mansion of an Ispancialo (Spanish) family whose patriarch is the Governor-General of Hinirang (The Philippines), and a beloved daughter of an elderly Katao couple who used to tell her tales of the divine Lakambini who protects the lands of Hinirang and its people. In the presentation, the relationship of theatre, mythmaking and cultural memory is explored. In the context of historiography, mythmaking is often perceived as an overflow because of its hyperbolic nature and its potential for disinformation. In the case of the play, the overflow is argued to be necessary. Rosang Taba’s overflow is argued as a strategy of decolonization via strategic essentialism of the process of marginalized communities, to assert an essentialized identity from others and to unite for political reasons. In the end, Rosang Taba is asserted as an allegorical representation of the past that affects the present and projected toward the future: an aspiration for a better community tied by a conception / an imagination of a united people based on shared ancestry and history.
